On 16th and 17th January RAT Group's Dr Peter Cudd attended the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe board meeting at
AIAS Bolgna onlus - EMILIA ROMAGNA’S REGIONAL CENTRE FOR ASSISTIVE
TECHNOLOGY - in Italy. He was confirmed in his continued role as treasurer of
the association for the next two years.
The association is about to launch into a more active period engaging with many global, European and national associations and organisations. Working with the World Health Organisation, the United Nations and EASPD on joint activities (e.g. Global cooperation on Assistive Technology (GATE) on 3 and 4 July 2014 in WHO-HQ, Geneva) is only one aspect. The AAATE is a partner in a new EU funded project called Entelis where the intent is to develop education programmes that will empower people with disabilities to make more informed choices of their assistive technology. Its anticipated that this will be the first of many projects to address strategic topics. The AAATE is also continuing its activity with the e-accessibility wiki from the EU funded eAccess+ project - beyond the EU funding period.
