Joint Programme of Neurological Diseases (JPND) - Outcome measures for psychosocial intervnetion research in dementia care

Professor Gail Mountain (Professor of Health Services Research, RAT group), alongside Professor Esme Moniz-Cook (University of Hull) co-facilitated a two day meeting of researchers in psychosocial interventions for people living with dementia. The meeting was focused on outcome measures for psychosocial intervention research in dementia care, in order to update 'A European Consensus on outcome measures for psychosocial intervention research in dementia care' (written by Moniz-Cook, Vernooj-Dassen and Woods et al, previously published in the journal Aging & Mental Health 2008 12:1, 14-49). The aim is to enable comparison of psychosocial interventions in Dementia and related research across Europe, and learn from each other.  Researchers attended from across the UK and Europe, including Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and Spain. A further aim is to consider the direction future research in this area could take, and make recommendations about the kinds of new outcome measures that are being used, developed or that are required.
