IN-LIFE - INdependent Living support Functions for the Elderly

IN-LIFE is a multidisciplinary European research project bringing together universities, industry, health & social care providers. Twenty partners spanning nine countries (Austria, Denmark, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and UK) are working together to deliver an ambitious project developing new technologies for people living with memory problems. Sheffield is the only UK site for IN-LIFE and comprises the University of Sheffield working with Sheffcare, a local provider of housing and social care.

On Monday 22nd June the Sheffield site for IN-LIFE held a workshop to explore user needs regarding technologies in terms of service functionality and personal expectations. Over 50 delegates joined us on the day including people living with memory problems, formal and informal caregivers as well as representatives from policy and practice organisations. Everyone contributed to an excellent event and all were encouraged to participate with existing and new technologies that may be both enjoyable and useful in meeting some of the unmet needs reported by people living with dementia.
