EnComPaSSing the Palliative Care Congress in Glasgow

Dr Deborah Fitzsimmons

The EnComPaSS palliative care project went live at St Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield on January 18th. Within the first month, 120 patients received 152 technology-enabled palliative care visits from Hospice community nurses. This achievement was celebrated at the 11th Palliative Care Congress at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, Glasgow on March 9-11th. With key note presentations from Emeritus Professor Arthur W. Frank and Rev Dr John Bell (photograph below), this was the best attended PCC to date and provided a wonderful forum in which to discuss the EnComPaSS programme of research.

Led by Dr Deborah Fitzsimmons, who is seconded part-time to the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care for Yorkshire and the Humber (CLAHRC YH) from her faculty position in the University of Western Ontario, this research has also been promoted in the latest HospiceUK newsletter which can be found here

For more information, or to see a short video about the programme, please visit the EnComPaSS website or email Dr Debbie Fitzsimmons (dfitzsi4@uwo.ca).
