CATCH member presents research at UNESCO World Conference, Limassol

Mark Jayes, former CATCH PhD student attended the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics 12th World Conference in Bioethics, Medical Ethics and Health Law, Limassol 21st - 23rd March 2017 to give an oral presentation about his PhD research entitled: Development and feasibility of the Mental Capacity Assessment Support Toolkit (MCAST).






Approximately 600 delegates from around the world attended the conference. Delegates came from diverse backgrounds (doctors, allied health professionals, nurses, academics from the fields of healthcare, bioethics, philosophy and law).
There was a wide range of oral and poster presentations relating to ethical issues in healthcare delivery, healthcare and medical research and the legal frameworks governing these (e.g, end of life care, informed consent, laws relating to abortion, euthanasia and decision-making).
At the conference, Mark also attended a presentation on ethical practice within speech and language therapy by colleagues from CPLOL. CPLOL is a European umbrella organisation of Speech and Language Therapy professional associations. Mark is one of two UK delegates who represent the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists at CPLOL.
