The event, which took place at King Edward VII School in Sheffield brought together 80 female students from across South Yorkshire with an interest in pursuing a career in Engineering or Computer Science.
Heidi held a captive audience as she demonstrated robots including Paro with school children from the region. Pupils took turns to act as an obstacle and use a simple computer programme to direct a robot to avoid any blockages. The young women also had the opportunity to ask Dr Christensen questions about her role including how she got into Computer Science.
As well as providing pupils from across the region with an opportunity to explore the field for their future careers, Heidi's daughter Mia also supported the session, demonstrating robots as part of her work experience placement at the University.
Guest speakers at the event reiterated that there are many possibilities in the industry, open to both boys and girls and that businesses in this field are right on the doorstep here in Sheffield.
